RPG

RPGs tie map exploration, combat and stat growth into one loop: crawl the dungeon, open the chests, grind a few levels, upgrade the gear. That loop is the skeleton, and the adult content is laid along it — sometimes as defeat scenes, sometimes as side events back in town. Unlike pure story games, you have to actually play well enough to reach the rest.

Players who choose this genre want the game part to hold up on its own and are willing to put tens of hours in. That makes the difficulty curve, whether grinding is required and how easy it is to get lost in a dungeon decisive for the experience. Our coverage describes each title’s battle system and rough completion time, flags the sections where players commonly stall, hidden content and CG completion requirements, and adds walkthroughs, ending conditions and reviews.
