072 Project has an oddly wholesome-sounding title lined up for Steam this month. WakuWaku Park, developed by long-running Japanese doujin circle DOUJIN3ARIES, arrives on August 28. Behind the cheerful name sits the Steam edition of a rather less innocent 3D simulation, reworked to fit the platform’s content policy. The rename came with a genuinely puzzling makeover of what actually happens in that park

Wake Up, Grab Iced Coffee, Outrun the Men in Black
The Steam version opens on a midsummer morning. The gyaru heroine Miki wakes up in a park surrounded by cups of iced coffee nobody has touched, while a group of men in black slowly closes in from the distance. She has no idea why she is there or who they are. The one thing she knows for sure: drinking iced coffee keeps her going a little longer
Play is a timed survival chase. You steer Miki around the park, dodging her pursuers and picking up iced coffee to restore stamina until the clock runs out. There are 3 stages at roughly 3 minutes each, and the crowd chasing her grows as the stages progress

A 3D simulation originally built around character interaction thus reinvents itself as a busty-gal-outruns-men-in-black survival game, and the sheer whiplash of that pivot is comedy in its own right

The Original Is a Freeform Real-Time 3D Simulation
The original release plays very differently. Its core appeal is freeform real-time 3D character interaction: dress Miki up with different outfits, hairstyles and looks, then control her freely around open scenes like the park. Characters react according to their current state and your instructions, and as experience builds up, their attitude and behavior gradually shift too

The original also packs a large set of 3D actions and scenes, with a fully adjustable camera for watching expressions and movement up close. Compared with titles that play out on fixed scripts, that real-time immediacy is the clearest signature DOUJIN3ARIES stamped on this game

A Free Patch on the Official Site Restores Everything
Because of platform policy, the Steam build of WakuWaku Park trims the original content heavily, so what you get straight from Steam is the all-ages escape game. Anyone after the original experience can download the free full-version patch from the 072 Project official website, and installing it restores the complete game
