Shiravune has opened the Steam store page for TORAWASE: The Girl in the Mirror, a Dark One! visual novel that blends proposal-trip romance, a haunted old-castle dreamscape, and a gender-transformation spiral into one uneasy package. It is a branching VN with multiple endings, but the hook is less about simple shock and more about how the dream world keeps eroding the protagonist’s sense of self.

The setup starts with what should have been a happy Eastern European getaway. The protagonist finally proposes to his girlfriend, only for her to be called back to Japan for work almost immediately. Left alone in a hotel renovated from an old castle, he starts dreaming that he is a woman invited into the era when the castle still thrived. Every time he wakes up, his real body moves one step closer to matching that dream.

What to Expect

Dark One! positions the game as a fully voiced, multi-choice, multi-ending visual novel with lavish CGs and an estimated playtime of two hours or more. Story Setup

Each time the protagonist falls asleep, he is dragged back into the medieval castle. Each time he wakes, the transformation progresses. That leaves the story balancing two tensions at once: the life he had just tried to secure with a proposal, and the possibility that his future is being rewritten in a completely different form.

A young office high-flyer with real confidence and the kind of instinct that lets him act decisively when it matters.

After the castle dream starts changing his body in real life, the devils in that world give his female form the name “Mia.”

Yuki Suwabe (CV: Yui Otokura)

A highly capable project manager in the medical industry who usually comes off as cold at work, but relaxes only around the protagonist.

She accepts his proposal, then has to fly back to Japan for work before she can witness the nightmare that follows.

Yalbha (CV: Yumu Akatsuki)

One of the twin devils capable of bending the rules of the world, associated with summer, men, and life.

He lures the protagonist into the past through dreams and insists that becoming a woman is the path to true happiness.

Mahzanar (CV: Nadeko Kurashita)

The other twin devil, tied to winter, women, and death.

Like Yalbha, she frames the protagonist’s transformation not as a curse, but as the shape his “real” happiness should take.

The ambitious lord who ruled the castle in its golden age, equally capable as a politician and a warrior.

His success draws the resentment of rival nobles, who decide to attack him through accusations aimed at his wife.

A noblewoman from the castle’s past and Damythf’s wife, elegant, dutiful, and deeply attached to her husband.
