Lust and Agony in Netori:The Ritual of Despair, a story-driven ADV from doujin circle ロケット☆ペンギン with a Traditional Chinese release handled by 072 Project, arrives on Steam on July 24. The setting is a village buried deep in the mountains, and it does not take the protagonist long to realize that daily life there runs on rules the outside world abandoned a long time ago.

A Retirement, a Move, and a Homecoming
When Chinatsu follows her husband back to his childhood home in the mountains, she expects nothing more than a quieter life in a new place. Once the family settles in, she starts noticing how much of the village still runs on traditions that have nothing in common with modern society — and the annual festival is only two weeks away.

A Village That Believes Love Should Not Be Bound by Marriage
What sets Netori Village apart is that its old faith is still very much alive. The villagers hold that feelings and physical intimacy between men and women belong to no one in particular, and the festival is how they give thanks to their god. Customs an outsider would struggle to accept are, to them, neither taboo nor something to hide — just culture passed down through generations.
As an outsider, Chinatsu resists all of it at first. But between the villagers’ warm welcome, the relatives guiding her along, and the festival mood thickening day by day, the convictions she arrived with begin to loosen in small ways.

Fourteen Days to the Festival, and a Tug-of-War Every One of Them
The game runs on a time-advance structure, and you accompany Chinatsu through all fourteen days leading up to the festival. Daytime opens the village for free exploration — the shrine, the hot spring, private homes and other locations — where you talk to villagers, take on requests, and trigger events. At night, different characters may pay a visit, pushing the story in another direction.

The game does not save the village’s secrets for a final reveal. Instead you watch Chinatsu wrestle with belief, family, and desire across each repeating day, until the question becomes whether she should hold on to her own values or accept the culture the village has carried for generations.

A Shrine Maiden, the Villagers, and Six Endings
The shrine maiden charged with the festival, villagers who seem kind yet believe firmly in the old ways, and the various people whose lives intersect with Chinatsu’s family all shape where the story goes. The game contains six different endings, and the order you explore the village in, how you interact with each character, and every choice you make can change the fate Chinatsu ends up with.
